I felt unhappy and self-conscious about my weight after having children. My clothes didn’t fit properly and I felt lethargic, which was affecting my self-esteem.

Thankfully, I can access the Altec Health Center at no cost through my employer-sponsored Marathon Health benefits at Altec, so I made an appointment with Faythe Davis, FNP.

Faythe taught me about weight-loss strategies and encouraged me to set small but attainable goals, including tracking calories, eating healthier foods, and walking a couple of times per week. We also set up regular check-ins to keep me on track and hold me accountable for my goals.

I took Faythe’s advice to heart and committed to making healthy lifestyle changes. I adjusted my calorie intake, switched to more nutritious foods, and started exercising regularly. I now make most of my food at home from scratch because I want to know what I put in my and my family’s bodies.

Since working with Faythe at the Altec Health Center, I’ve lost 39 pounds. I’m happy with the way I look and feel for the first time in my life! I have more energy to play with my children and have noticed major improvements in my self-esteem and self-talk.

Losing weight has taught me that if I set my mind to it, I can make changes to improve my own health. It’s different for everyone, but for me, I was able to make healthy habits a lifestyle change after just three months of setting incremental, obtainable milestones. It is possible!
