Problem Knowledge Coupler software is a sophisticated evidence-based diagnostic and treatment decision support tool embedded in our technology platform for condition management, disease management, lifestyle risk reduction, and primary care services.  Couplers match unique patient information and unique characteristics with an extensive medical database to provide guidance tailored to unique individuals. 

Working with the Marathon Health clinician or on their own, a participant selects the Coupler that addresses their health concerns and answers a series of questions online that relate to dozens of the most common health conditions. Based on the participant’s answers, the Coupler will locate the medical information that is most pertinent to his or her unique situation and identify all possible treatment options. A dedicated research team locates and reviews new medical literature to make constant updates to the database. Equipped with the most recent information, the participant can take a more active role in selecting their preferred course of treatment.

For the clinician, Couplers promote greater adherence to evidence-based clinical protocols, resulting in fewer missed diagnoses and ineffective treatment patterns. Our platform offers more than 130 Couplers for screening, diagnosing, and managing health problems.  There are specific Couplers for diabetes, hypertension, obesity/weight management, depression, and asthma as well as other prevalent conditions.  The Coupler software is embedded in our technology platform so that health information and results are automatically “pushed” into the health record so the information is readily available to the onsite coach and plan member for actionable follow-up.
