Jerry Ford
Chief Executive Officer
Jerry Ford is the chief executive officer at Marathon Health and is responsible for overall business performance, corporate culture, and customer care. Jerry brings to Marathon Health an extensive senior management background in healthcare information technology, process improvement, and customer experience management. Most recently Ford was CEO and president of an Accel-KKR owned company (Systems & Software) where he guided the senior leadership team to apply operational efficiencies and core values that led to improved customer satisfaction and overall business performance. Prior to Systems & Software, Ford spent 15 years at IDX Systems Corporation where he most recently served as vice president of operations responsible for more than 300 large complex healthcare delivery system customers. Ford emphasized employee growth and development to focus his organization on providing proactive customer-centric care as the means of exceeding financial objectives for customers and for his organization. A certified Green Belt, Ford believes in the appropriate and relevant application of Six Sigma and Lean Methodologies to achieve continual process improvement.
Charles D. Reuter
President
Chuck is responsible for sales and marketing with a primary focus on growth strategies and product development initiatives. Prior to joining Marathon Health, Chuck was senior vice president at Aon Corporation, a global provider of risk management and workforce productivity solutions. He has more than 25 years of executive leadership in sales and client relations in both benefits consulting and health plan/insurance industries. One of Aon’s top producers, Chuck is known for his achievements in deploying new business and marketing strategies in middle market and national account businesses. In addition to his experience at Aon, Chuck had a successful tenure with Aetna where he was responsible for territorial sales production, cross selling, marketing strategy development, account management, and territorial profitability. While at Aetna, his customer base had $2 billion in annual premium equivalents. Prior to Aetna, Chuck was principal and director of marketing at Buck Consulting. A graduate of Columbia University, Chuck holds a BA in Economics.
Scott T. LaPlant, CPA
Chief Financial Officer
Scott is responsible for Marathon Health’s overall financial management and reporting and human resource operations. Prior this post, Scott was a CPA in public practice for 12 years with Gallagher, Flynn & Company in Burlington, VT, where he assisted clients in multiple areas, including financial modeling and analysis, management accounting functions, systems review and improvement, due diligence services in support of merger and acquisition transactions, auditing and other accounting functions. Scott also oversaw quality control and staff development for the firm’s audit department. Scott earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Vermont and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Vermont Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Barbara Bergmann, NP
Chief Nursing Officer
After 25 years in the healthcare industry with a concentration in the ambulatory market as a practicing clinician, Barbara brings an in-depth understanding of ambulatory care. She has been an adjunct professor at the University of Vermont’s Department of Nursing, and prior to joining Marathon Health, Barbara served both as the product/project manager of Electronic Medical Records at Allscripts, Inc, and as a clinical consultant at IDX. She also worked in sales and marketing, product management, and clinical content development at IDX. Barbara has a master’s degree in nursing and is accredited as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
Jeff Seward
Vice President of Sales
Jeff Seward is the vice president of sales for Marathon Health. Jeff comes to Marathon Health with over 20 years of healthcare experience. Most recently he was an Area Vice President of Sales for IDX Systems Corporation which was a healthcare software vendor based out of Burlington, Vermont. At IDX over the years he held positions of Sales Representative, Regional Sales Director and Area Vice President of Sales. Prior to joining IDX he was a Marketing Representative for IBM Corporation in their mid-sized computer division. Jeff graduated from Bucknell University with a bachelor’s degree in Business Management and also played for the Bucknell Bison’s football team.
David Demers
MPH, Director of Strategic Planning and Product Development
David Demers is the director of strategic planning and product development for Marathon Health. David comes to Marathon Health with 25 years experience in healthcare and human service organizations in California and Vermont. His areas of expertise include strategic planning, product development and sales. Most recently David was Director of Medical Informatics at IDX where he developed and launched a management scorecard for medical practice plans and hospitals currently in use at medical centers across the United States. A Master of Public Health, David was trained at California State University Northridge and the University of Vermont. He is a certified Six Sigma Green Belt.
Tracey Moran
Director of Marketing
Tracey Moran is the director of marketing for Marathon Health. Tracey’s expertise in marketing and corporate communications functions come from more than 20 years of experience creating and implementing brand strategies, directing new product launches, and designing creative communication strategies to drive sales. Tracey has 10 years of experience in healthcare technology marketing, as well as expertise in marketing in nonprofit and manufacturing settings. As the Director of Communications at IDX Systems Corporation, Tracey managed a large communications team responsible for public relations, trade shows, marketing collateral, internal communication, and product marketing for each of five divisions. At Allscripts, Tracey led the re-branding initiative that resulted from the acquisition of a division of IDX. Tracey graduated Cum Laude from the University of New Hampshire with a BS in Political Science and Environmental Conservation.
William W. Campbell
Director of IT
Bill joins Marathon Health with more than 15 years of experience in healthcare technology, specifically in architecting, managing, and implementing information systems. Most recently, Bill was at Allscripts Helathcare Solutions, a leading provider of electronic medical software, where he was responsible for the WAN, LAN, Wireless, 100+server farm, security, and support of a high-availability hosting center. Prior to Allscripts, Bill was with IDX where he managed, architected, and deployed a complex server environment in a public company. In this role, Bill ensured IDX’s business-critical systems were maintained nationwide. At Marathon Health, Bill is responsible for the development and deployment of the system architecture, security, and maintenance of the technology infrastructure to support the business operations and customer technology solutions. With degrees in computer Science and Engineering, Bill graduated from Vermont Technical College in 1990.
Dean Lea
PharmD, Director of Organizational Development
Dean is an organizational development consultant with extensive experience in healthcare. He was the vice president for quality at Fletcher Allen Health Care for over ten years, responsible for planning, deployment, and management of quality systems. Areas of special interest include high performance teams, leadership development, change management, and organizational culture. Presently, Dean is a senior fellow of the Institute of Health Care Improvement. He is a process improvement coach for the Network for the Improvement of Addiction Treatment, as well as a member of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Paths to Recovery National Advisory Council. Dean has a BA from the University of Vermont and pharmacy and graduate degrees from Union University.
Bev Flanagan
NP, Director of Clinical Services
Bev Flanagan is the director of corporate training at Marathon Health. Bev has worked in the healthcare industry for the past 20 years in various nursing roles and settings including critical care, home health care, and academia. Most recently Bev worked at the VT Department of Health as a senior manager within the Division of Community Public Health. In this role, Bev served as the refugee health coordinator responsible for adult programs including immunization activities and environmental health initiatives. Bev also served on the Governor’s Commission for Aging. Prior to the Department of Health, Bev was employed at PKC Corporation where she worked as a nurse practitioner and manager of a small clinic that utilized PKC Problem Knowledge Couplers. Bev has both a B.S and M.S in nursing and is nationally certified as an adult nurse practitioner.
